About me

Hello, I’m Lauren.
I help capable people question the narrative and rewrite their lives.

I’m a BABCP-accredited psychotherapist with 18 years’ experience in NHS and private practice, a lecturer in CBT, and the creator of Integrative Functional Psychotherapy (IFP™) and The Rise Method.

My mission

I believe every person has the capacity to feel well and to live at their best.

My mission is to help people get there by going to the root: treating the body, the mind and the way we live as one system, not separate problems.

Because when one person feels better and lives more truly, it ripples out into their family, their work and everyone around them.

My story

Why I built The Rise Method

For most of my career I’ve worked in NHS and private mental health services, using CBT and EMDR. They work. But I kept seeing the same thing: people attending every session, doing the work, understanding their patterns, and still not feeling fully better.

What was missing was the dot-joining. Nobody was asking about their sleep, their energy, the load they were carrying or the life they were living, and linking all of that back to the thoughts and beliefs we were working on.

I knew that gap from the inside too. Alongside a demanding career, I was doing “all the right things” and still feeling flat and stuck. Stepping back and looking at the whole picture (body, mind and the way I was living) changed everything for me. It also changed how I work.

The Rise Method is the result: a coaching method built on evidence-based therapy that brings your body, your mind and your life back into alignment.

The clinical model behind everything

Integrative Functional Psychotherapy (IFP™)

IFP™ is the clinical framework I developed through years of practice. It brings together established therapies (CBT, EMDR, ACT, schema and mindfulness-based approaches) with functional medicine principles, so the body, the mind and the way you live are understood as one system.

It works in three layers, held together by awareness: the capacity to notice what’s happening inside you, rather than being run by it.

Layer one

Body

Steadying the nervous system: sleep, energy, nourishment, movement and the load you carry. The foundation everything else stands on.

Layer two

Mind

Seeing and loosening the conditioned mind: the beliefs, rules for living and patterns learned long ago.

Layer three

Consciousness

Stepping back from your story and choosing, values first, who you want to be from here.

The aim

Equanimity and authenticity

Feeling fully and caring deeply without being knocked off course, and living from who you really are rather than how you were conditioned.

How it reaches you

Therapy and coaching

I use IFP™ clinically in therapy. The Rise Method is how I bring the same principles to everyone else, as coaching, courses and programmes.
